Question:

What nutrition care services can the dietetic student or student dietetic technician provide?

Answer:

The Board recognizes that work experiences are a proper and necessary part of an educational program. A student may not engage in dietetic practice beyond that which is a part of the academic or pre-professional program. The licensed dietitian/nutritionist that provides supervision must be on site and shall directly and personally examine, evaluate and approve the acts or actions of the student supervised.

The licensed dietitian/nutritionist is responsible for the initial and ongoing determination of the competence of the unlicensed student. Students should only be working at the level of their educational experience.
