Question:

What nutrition care services can unlicensed assistive personnel such as dietary managers or dietetic technicians registered provide?

Answer:

Persons who do not meet the criteria for licensure or exemption from licensure may not practice dietetics even under supervision. If properly trained, unlicensed assistive personnel may collect and record nutritional data to assist the dietitian with assessments and counseling. Evaluating or interpreting nutritional data is considered the practice of dietetics and should be provided by a licensed dietitian/nutritionist.
