Question:

What titles are restricted by the law?

Answer:

The law restricts the use of the title “dietitian”, “nutritionist”, or “licensed dietitian/nutritionist”, alone or in combination. The law also prohibits anyone, other than a licensed dietitian, from using any words, abbreviations, letters, insignia, etc. tending to indicate the practice of dietetics. Only licensed persons can use dietitian as a part of their position title. By definition, the terms “Nutritionist”, “Nutrition Counselor”, and like terms tend to indicate that the person is practicing dietetics.
