How to Become a Certified Reviewer

The North Carolina Board of Dietetics/Nutrition has developed an independent study training program for LDNs wishing to become Certified Reviewers for weight control programs. This program is organized into four parts:

  • Law: The Act to Regulate the Practice of Dietetics/Nutrition
  • Rules: The North Carolina Administrative Code that governs weight control services
  • Standards: That each program must meet to be approved
  • Procedures: That reviewers and programs must follow

Test questions follow each of the four parts. Two case studies are included at the end of the fourth section and are part of the exam.

After successful completion of the course, certified reviewers are required to review a minimum of two weight control programs per year and provide proof of 4 hours of continuing education per year in the area of weight control in order to maintain certification.
