A majority of states have some form of regulation for dietitians/nutritionists. Many of these states have title protection statutes and/or scope of practice protection statutes, similar to North Carolina’s law. Some have less restrictive laws and require only registration or certification. NCBDN honors reciprocity from any state with a licensure law that has requirements equivalent to those of North Carolina. However, RD/RDN’s should apply under Category A licensure.
